Video Portraits

Following our lessons using the DSLR cameras to take slow shutter speed images to paint with light and create ghost images and to take portrait photos we moved on to stop frame animations by producing animations of our names appearing bit by bit.  We then began to use the video function to film a variety of portrait scenes in order to make video portraits of ourselves.

We then added our own ideas and creative skills to our work.

Charlotte sang a song and created a video portrait of herself based on her love of music.

Casie added a montage of childhood photos to video and photos taken during the course to her portrait and narrated a story about her life and what she would like to do next.

Melissa similarly included a montage of childhood photos along with some blue screen work where she acted out her future career aspirations.

Michael took his interest in computer games to another level by turning portrait photos of all of his classmates into computer game characters.  He put these in his video as well as printing a series on the images for display in the gallery.

Jack focused on his passion for landscape photography by making a show reel of his work over some music he composed using GarageBand.  He also printed a selection of photos for display in the gallery.

Martin focused on his passion for music and chose to compose 2 pieces of music for a CD, of which he designed the sleeve using his photography skills.

Carla was able to make a film detailing her interest in computer games, cartoons and programmes through a combination of montages, self made stop frame animations and appropriated images.  She is interviewed by Bethany about her interests which plays over the film as well as relevant music.

Maurice showed his expertise in editing and made an avant-garde video portrait which shows off his fabulous sense of humour and his creative talents with colour, special effects and sound.

Katie made a video portrait about her friendships with other class members, using blue screen editing and adding text to tell her story.

Kieran focused on chaos theory for his video.  Using Ethan as his subject for a video, he added stop frames and video events as well as his random experiments in music to see if things randomly put together can work.

Jade emulated a music video with her best friend Jasmine and spoke about her friendship with jasmine.
