Creative Crafts

Unit 1: Exploring Craft Ideas


AO 1.1 Martin has attended the lecture / presentation by filmmakers and an animator about their own work and completed a review form in his folder. 

AO 1.2 Mood board and PowerPoint completion in Martin's folder provides evidence of developing and further researching his own music craft ideas.

AO 1.3 Martin has examined the positive and negative aspects of the artists work he viewed.  Evidence in folder.

AO 1.4 Evidence in folder of preferred final idea - completed worksheet.

AO 1.5 Martin presents the idea on video for his final craft project (CD of his music and CD cover)



Unit 2: Explore materials and tools to support craft ideas
AO 1.1 and 1.2  

He participated in a class discussion to identify some of the properties / characteristics of different materials used which supports the actual craft work,  tutor observations and self assessment of his work.



A self-assessment form and tutor assessment form and further creative work in his folder also supports the evidence.

Below is evidence of different crafts martin has produced and identified materials and equipment used.  

Light painting using slow shutter setting:
Equipment: Tripod, Canon DSLR camera.  Shutter speed 5 - 15 seconds.
Materials: Glow sticks, mobile phones, torches.









Second attempt: Using brighter lights and reducing shutter speed
Task: Alphabet and drawing shapes












Making ghost images using slow shutter and movement






Clay modelling and painting
Task: To make a pot using coil technique.

Stop Frame Animation:
Version 1: Creating a scene.  
Take a series of photos using bottles, playing cards, skeleton and costumes
Equipment: Canon DSLR, Tripod, memory card

Unit 3: Produce Craft Work

AO 1.1: Completed mood board, PowerPoint and presentation show evidence of planing for final craft piece.

In the video below Martin presents his idea for his creative craft project by answering a series of questions.



Final Project: CD of music
Because of his personal interest in music Martin has decided to focus on making a CD of his own music remixes and to design his own CD cover.  He has used GarageBand to mix the music and Photoshop to design the CD case.
